The Western Australia Police Sports Federation (WAPSF) was established in 1986 to enhance the physical health and fitness of members of the Western Australia Police (WAPOL) by promoting and organising sporting and recreational activities throughout the agency. The WAPSF is managed by the Co-ordinator position and is funded primarily through financial memberships, sponsorships and various fundraising activities.
The variety of sporting and recreational activities that are co-ordinated by the WAPSF are broad and attract participation at local, State, National and International levels. The WAPSF promotes the public image of WAPOL by liaising and consulting with a wide range of external organisations from both the public and private sectors. WAPSF supports the following events and many more;

    • Freeway Bike Hike  
    • Fremantle Triathlon 
    • BRW 
    • Busselton ½ Ironman 
    • Bridges Fun Run  

Membership is open to all employees of the Western Australia Police, sworn and civilian staff.
Simply return the membership application along with the procurement order and return to the Sports Fed Coordinator.
Fees are deducted fortnightly.

The WAPSF caters to the sporting needs of  members through sporting groups ranging from Cricket, Football and Golf to Bowls and more. 
 
Membership provides opportunities to participate in competitive and non-competitive activities to enhance your life experiences and provide an outlet from the rigours of your work environment. 
 
Activities will be determined from members and include walking, cycling, fun runs and a myriad of other pursuits.

The Sports Star and Sports Team of the Year awards are announced at an annual Sports Awards function to recognise the sporting achievements of members of the WAPSF and are based on participation and success.
AUSTRALASIAN POLICE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES GAMES 
 
WA attends the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games and has hosted the Games in 1993, 2004 and has been awarded hosting rights for 2018. The 2018 games will be hosted in Mandurah. The website has been updated and can be found at www.apandesgames.com.au
WA won the Games Trophy in 1993, 2001, 2004 and 2010 and has a proud record of participation and achievement. 
 
These Games feature over 40 sports with separate age categories for men and women. Events range from athletics through cycling, lawn bowls, tennis and water sports. 

WAPSF Sponsors participants such as a subsidy of $150 when competing within Australia or a subsidy of $200 when competing at recognised International Police events overseas. 
 
AUSTRALIAN POLICE WINTER GAMES 
The Australian Police Winter Games has been an annual event since 1983, involving social events, skiing and snowboarding races. It is the longest continual Police Winter Sports Competition in the world today. 
 
WAPSF has had a team at each of these Games winning the trophy in 2009. 
 
 
AUSTRALIAN POLICE CHAMPIONSHIPS 
 These events are held annually and cover a range of sports including Basketball, Bowls, Football and Golf. Contact the Sports Coordinator for more information. 
 
 
INTERNATIONAL GAMES 
 The WAPSF competes at the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG), the Supergames as well as the International Police and Fire Games (IPFG) held on consecutive years. 
 
WAPSF has had a team at each of these Games that provides an excellent sporting challenge whilst combining a unique holiday experience.
